Nikon announces a lightweight, compact and portable lens for FX, the NIKKOR AF-S 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR. In addition to the Nikon 24-120mm f/4 VR and Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, this lens provides a less expensive option for the upcoming entry level full frame camera Nikon D600. It weights at 465g which is much lighter and smaller than the 24-70mm f/2.8 (900g) and 24-120mm f/4 VR (710g). It provides a versatile focal length that is useful for landscape and portraits.
- VR (Vibration Reduction) minimizes camera shake by offering the equivalent of a shutter speed approximately four stops faster
- Nikon Super Integrated Coating offers superb color reproduction
- Silent Wave Motor (SWM) realizes quiet AF operation
- Two focus modes are available – M/A (autofocus with manual override) and M (manual focus)
