Nikon has just announced its new NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED FX lens. The AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED is an ultra wide-angle zoom lens that covers an ultra-wide to wide-angle from 18 to 35mm focal length. It has a minimum focus distance of 28 cm. This high-performance lens is equipped with two ED and three aspherical lens elements for superior optical performance. This is Nikon’s lightest (385g)  and travel friendly wide angle lens for FX cameras. Currently, if you want an ultra wide angle (<24mm), your only options are the 16-35mm f/4, 17-35mm f/2.8 or 14-24mm f/2.8. All these lenses are fairly expensive and heavy. The new Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 is certainly a light weight travel friendly ultra wide angle lens. The 18-35mm focal length is perfect for landscape, street photography and even portraits.

The Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 is available to pre-order at B&H.

AF-S NIKKOR 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED Primary Features

  • A new optical design with superior resolution that makes the most of digital-SLR cameras with extremely high pixel counts, such as the D600
  • Constructed with two ED and three aspherical lens elements for superior aberration compensation
  • Superior rendering performance at all focusing distances, from minimum 28 cm to infinity
  • Equipped with a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for extremely quiet autofocusing
  • Equipped with two focus modes—autofocus with manual override (M/A) and manual focus (M)
