It looks like the announcements of Nikon D800 and D4 are imminent and they could be announced not far part from each other. Unlike in the previous Nikon D700 and Nikon D3 announcements, they were 11 months apart. The Nikon D800 specs have been floating around and you can see it here.

The Nikon D4 and D800 could be announce together or very close together since their design specs are very much different. I have mentioned in here that the D800 will be of a different specification to the D4; unlike the D3 and D700 which share the same 12.1 MP CMOS sensor. Because of the similarity in the specs, Nikon had to announce the D3 and D700 far apart, so the introduction of D700 will not jeopardise the sale of their flagship D3. However this is no longer the case and Nikon has clearly directed the D800 to the High MP, Low ISO and FPS market, whereas the D4 will be targeted to the market for Low MP, High ISO and FPS.

With no surprises, the D4X will equip with a High MP sensor, like the D800 but in a D4 body.

Nikon Rumors has leaked some Nikon D4 specs which are rated being 90% accurate. The rumoured specs interestingly are similar to the recently announced Canon 1D X. So the on going battles between Nikon and Canon’s flagship cameras will continue with the D4 and 1D X.

Let’s compare the specs. Which one will you get? Leave a comment below and let us know.
